about

'Since the early 90s, Matthias Rahn from Frankfurt has guaranteed an exquisite blend of minimalist techno, dub, and ambient. After releasing several albums and EPs on various labels such as Trapez, Konvex-Konkav, Neurotron Music, or Night Drive Music between 2001 and 2017, his debut for Seasides on Postcards was released in 2018 with 'Paradise is Closed'.

'The Lost Archives' is, as the title suggests, a collection of musical jewels that were created between 1998 and 2008 - 5 of them are previously unreleased.
Even though 'The Lost Archives' is a compilation, it functions as a very homogeneous, timeless album, the tension of which ranges from pulsating dub techno to breathing ambient passages.

For those who are already familiar with M. Rahn's work, a valuable addition - for all those who want to discover him, the right opportunity to get to know his world.'

'‘The Lost Archives’ consists of tracks that Frankfurt-based electronic music artist M. Rahn recorded over a decade-long period between 1998 and 2008. Five of the tracks in this collection have never been released before, and the previously available material is organised in a way to make a coherent album, not an odds’n’ends exercise.'

'[...] These tripped out ambient miniatures admit cyber-like pulses and beat-laden interferences that give a cold icy groovy feeling to the ensemble. Post-techno loops and layered textures that listeners of IDM music won’t be disappointed by. The musical purposes questions our perception of time, memory, space and movement like a wakeful dream. A precise, concise and kinetic post-ambient release that operates a cross between abundant, effective thrilling looped pieces by The Orb, Yagya, and Wolfgang Voigt.'

Schon wieder ist was aufgetaucht!
